QLD Police have applied to ban more than 650 QLDers from QLD pubs and clubs for 12 months in a major crackdown on alcohol-fuelled violence. Bandidos bikie John Fahey has been banned from the Mermaid Beach Tavern twice and once from Surfers Paradise. Others included in the ban are Lone Wolf bikie Shane Treloar, and NZ-born rapper Mark Sagapolutele who faces four counts of serious assault. Jarrod Bleijie, QLD Attorney-General, says that licensees have been working well with authorities to ensure premises are safe. Shayne Maxwell, QLD Police Union, says it has been 'like Schoolies every weekend'. QLD Police have charged 205 people with assault, 75 with assaulting Police officers or the passerbys trying to help. Three people have been jailed for breaching the ban order.
