Information for Members RE Pay Freeze
As members would be aware there has been speculation that the Queensland state government is considering drastic measures that would affect police and other public sector employees significantly.
These are as follows:
- A wage freeze
- Abolition of leave loading
- Cutting employer superannuation contributions to 9%
The QPUE has responded in the media and left the government in no doubt that should they actually implement these measures and undermine police entitlements that the QPUE would act decisively to protect these hard won conditions.
I have sought a meeting with the Police Minister, Neil Roberts at which I will detail our opposition and the effects such cuts would have on Police and their families. No time has yet been set for that meeting, however, Mr Roberts office have indicated that this will occur soon.
In addition, your union has arranged to meet with our legal team and a very senior Barrister who specializes in Industrial law, to explore our legal options.
Members can be assured that the QPUE will represent your interests in this matter and fight to retain your entitlements.
Ian Leavers
Acting General President
