The Queensland Police Union of Employees Scholarship Scheme

21 July 2010, 0:02:00

The Queensland Police Union of Employees Scholarship Scheme (Academic & Sporting) was commenced in 2008.

It was identified that members of the Queensland Police Union of Employees have children of a school age who have excelled in either academics or sports but have been limited in furthering those aspirations due to financial constraints.

This scheme was developed to help alleviate that situation.

The Queensland Retired Police Association was identified as a responsible bodywith previous police involvement which enable them to promote unilateral fairness through the decision making processes.

The Queensland Retired Police Association was requested to be involved in this scheme and commenced a Scholarship Committee to administer it.

The total scholarship fund is $20,000 annually.

There is no minimum scholarship value but an individual scholarship will be up to a maximum of $2,000.

No recipient is eligible for a sporting and academic sponsorship at the same time.

The scholarship funds are to assist in such area’s, but not limited to, travel costs, enrolment/registration fees and equipment.

Scholarships applicants may apply on a continual yearly basis.
